Dr. Anders Cohen on Alternative Therapies for Treating Back Pain
Dr. Anders Cohen, premier spine surgeon and Chief of Neurosurgery at the Brooklyn Hospital Center, was recently interviewed by CNN.com regarding alternative therapies for people who are experiencing chronic back pains.
Many have been commending Dr. Cohen’s efforts for advocating alternative health care methods and he has long maintained his stance against surgery as a quick cure for back pains. Instead, patients can try options such as acupuncture, massages and chiropractic therapy, or take supplements like Vitamins D or B12. Dr. Cohen asserts that 85% of people who experience back pain will not benefit from surgery and that it should be taken as a last resort, when conservative treatments have been exhausted.
Whenever he has the time, Dr. Anders Cohen contributes to health and fitness reports by sharing tips on maintaining a healthy spine and back. He has been interviewed by CBS Sports, USA Today, and The Times of India. Dr. Cohen has also recently developed a set of spine-strengthening exercises approved by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
